EcoLogic Products Answers Consumer
Demand for Upscale Green Tableware with first FDA Approved "Eco Chic"
Collection
From the earth, for your home
Toledo, OH – July 07, 2008 – In a response to consumer demand for
upscale green tableware, EcoLogic Products has developed and is
producing the Eco Collection™, the first sustainable, green, FDA
approved high end tableware to be made available in the United States.
This tableware is made from natural plant fibers, is designed to last
for years, and can be composted or repurposed when discarded. It has a
near zero carbon footprint signature. This product will give consumers
a viable green choice when deciding on a tableware product that will
provide beauty, form and function in their kitchens for years, without
changing buying patterns or compromising quality.
"We wanted to create a product that every family can use to help
the environment on the daily basis, which integrates seamlessly with
their current lifestyle. The Eco Collection™ was engineered along
cradle- to-cradle guidelines, which means that it is developed from
natural, earth based agricultural products and will be composted upon
the end of its serviceable life," says the 28 year old, Eco-Preneur
Lawrence J. Ohlman, founder and CEO of EcoLogic Products, LLC. "After
a long functional life, these objects can be used as a plant pot and
saucer or simply composted back to the earth, minimizing our impact on
the planet’s ecosystem," he adds.
Retailers are aware that green products are no longer an optional
line to handle but something that consumers have begun to expect. In
the United States, the Green Marketplace is conservatively pegged at
nearly $250 million in annual revenue- and will only continue to grow.
There are 63 million consumers eating organics and driving hybrids
comprising, 30% of the American Market. They have proven themselves
willing to spend up to an astounding 20% premium, on clean, green
products over non-sustainable alternatives, an estimate aimed to grow
exponentially over the next 10 years. Today’s consumers are committed
to preserving the environment- so much so that they are willing to
shift their purchase decisions. EcoLogic Products have been developed
with this consumer in mind, and this consumer is rapidly becoming the
norm.
"The beauty of these products is their ability to easily make
people feel good – and make a difference in their environment without
changing their lifestyle. EcoLogic’s products will enable retailers to
offer consumers a green alternative to traditional plastic and ceramic
plates without sacrificing looks or performance. They are being
offered at an attractive price point, in a host of natural colors,
packaged in a display ready, post consumer content package printed
with soy based inks, and will be available through the over 4,000
independent natural foods retailers around the country as well as
traditional stores," says Mr. Ohlman.
Traditional Ceramic tableware is made from inorganic non metallic
materials which are formed by the action of heat. Plastic tableware is
made from petroleum, a commodity that is itself in short supply and
increasing in price. Greenhouse gas is produced during the manufacture
of plastic and ceramic, which does not degrade, is clogging landfills
and causes further greenhouse gas when incinerated upon disposal,
thereby increasing global warming, according to many scientific
experts. Additionally, plastic is labor intensive and difficult to
recycle. The search for an alternative has produced some promising
results, ironically EcoLogic’s products were borne out of research the
Chinese government was conducting in an attempt to reduce carbon
emissions produced by burning leftover agricultural materials such as
rice husks and bamboo. EcoLogic products are made from Plastic Starch
material (PSM), bioresins made from the polymerization and drying of
food starches, which yields a product similar product as plastic
without the use of chemicals or petroleum.
The EcoLogic Collection will be available in stores nationwide this
Fall.

Collection™ is the first FDA approved tableware of its kind developed
from our proprietary blend of natural plant fibers and earth based
resins. Made primarily from bamboo fibers; the raw material is
powdered and mixed with bio-based polymers at high temperature to form
a collection of sustainable and durable dinnerware. We are also
committed to Environmental Stewardship in our packaging and through
our alliances with environmental organizations. In fact, we are a
member of "1% For the Planet", which is an alliance of companies that
